Eye-catching because of its bright green leaves, this adaptable native can handle heavy frosts, most types of soil, pollution and drought. It’s fast-growing and attracts bees and lizards thanks to the shelter it provides and the cream flowers that bloom from the centre in spring. A good choice for planting under trees too.
