Tetragonia tetragoniodes

Warrigal greens or New Zealand spinach is a fantastic edible plant with the new shoots being the most tender. It is best to boil for about a minute before eating as the leaves contain oxalic acid.  Use where you would English spinach. This plant thrives on neglect and self seeds.  Drought tolerant and will grow in sun and part shade. Also good for caged birds to nibble on.  High in antioxidants.
